Primal Religious Traditions

1. Some religions were formed before some religions that we have today that makes them primal. It is within a small group of people in a tribe, they have mythic and ritual traditions, and primal religions are for illiterate people as they don’t read any scriptures.
2. The ancestors established that the earth was formless. They created the first forms of life and that they left behind symbols when they left the earth.
3. Sacred power with religious significance
4. Totem-A natural object or animal believed by a particular society to have spiritual significance and adopted by it as an emblem.
Taboo-A custom prohibiting or restricting a particular practice or forbidding association with a particular person, place, or thing.
5. It brings people to their spiritual identity.

7. It prepares the person for spiritual adulthood.
8. Circumcision and two teeth of a nine year old boy are buried.
9. Nigeria, Benin and Togo.
10. It is where Yoruba’s god is said to have created the world.
11. The whole understanding is to maintain balance in the world between heaven and earth.

18. Ones future can be predicted with divination. It is essential because it helps one go on in their life.

20. Religion is vital because of the number of languages all of the tribes speak.

23. After a person has died, their soul goes to basically a judgment to see if it will become an ancestor or a ghost.

Function- People are sprinkled water over them by a man with medicine.
26. A message is given to a person trough a vision, then they try to interpret the vision.

29. They believe that it is a sacrifice that they can give in regards to how their body is theirs.
30. The Aztec’s were not small, they were a civilization. They are the same because the both have things to do with rituals.

34. The golden age of cultural brilliance
35. The spatial world extends out into the universe with four quadrants.
36. Aztecs believed this because every human is connected.
37. Aztecs were able to understand a human being through their religion.
38. Virgin of Guadalupe.
39. It embraces the entire Aztec history.
40. Communication, Religion, and Knowledge.
